What is Microneedling?
Microneedling, also known as Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT), is an advanced aesthetic treatment designed to reduce fine lines, acne scars, and improve the overall appearance of the skin.
During this minimally invasive procedure, tiny needles create micro-injuries that stimulate the natural production of collagen and elastin.
At Spa Sydell, we enhance this process with our exclusive serums and recovery products, which are applied and absorbed during the treatment to support the creation of rejuvenated skin cells for a revitalized you. As a leader in cosmetic aesthetics, regenerative, and restorative therapies, we prioritize your skin wellness and care above all else.
We offer several microneedling options, including traditional microneedling, microneedling with Amnioglide, PRP microneedling, and Vivace RF microneedling.

Microneedling FAQs
What is microneedling?
Microneedling, also known as Collagen Induction Therapy, is a minimally invasive treatment that uses fine needles to create tiny micro-injuries in the skin, stimulating natural collagen and elastin production. This rejuvenating procedure helps reduce the appearance of fine lines, acne scars, enlarged pores, and uneven texture—revealing smoother, firmer, more radiant skin over time.
What does microneedling feel like?
Microneedling may produce a variety of sensations, including pressure, prickling, warmth, or even a light scratching sensation. However, the treatment should not be painful. We use a high-quality, medical-grade numbing cream to minimize discomfort.
What is the downtime?
The inflammatory effect on the skin is extremely short and fades significantly within hours, from redness to a pinkish hue that may last for 12 to 48 hours. Redness or sensitivity my possibly be present and last up to a few days after your first treatment. Redness typically subsides within 48 hours.
When will I see results?
You can expect to see results after the recovery period of your very first treatment. However, a series of treatments is recommended for optimal results.
How many treatments will I need?
We recommend completing a series of 3-5 consecutive microneedling treatments, with follow-up sessions every 3-4 weeks, until you achieve your desired results. Schedule a complimentary consultation with one of our skin care specialists before getting started.
What are collagen and elastin, and what are their cosmetic benefits?
Collagen and elastin are essential proteins that play a crucial role in maintaining the skin's structure and elasticity.
Collagen provides the skin with strength and firmness. It acts as the scaffolding that keeps the skin plump and resilient. As we age, collagen production naturally decreases, leading to wrinkles, sagging, and a loss of skin elasticity.
Elastin allows the skin to return to its original shape after stretching or contracting. It gives the skin its ability to bounce back, maintaining flexibility and a smooth appearance.
Cosmetic benefits of these proteins include:
- Improved skin firmness: Higher levels of collagen and elastin contribute to firmer, more youthful-looking skin.
- Reduced wrinkles and fine lines: Enhanced collagen and elastin can diminish the appearance of aging signs.
- Enhanced skin texture: These proteins help achieve smoother and more even skin surfaces.
Microneedling stimulates the skin's natural healing processes, which in turn boosts the production of collagen and elastin.
What skin conditions can microneedling improve?
Microneedling is a versatile cosmetic procedure that can address a variety of skin concerns, including:
- Fine lines & wrinkles: Reduces the appearance of aging signs by promoting collagen and elastin production.
- Acne scars: Helps to smooth out and diminish the visibility of acne-related scarring.
- Stretch marks: Improves the texture and color of stretch marks on various parts of the body.
- Hyperpigmentation: Evens out skin tone by reducing dark spots and discoloration.
- Large pores: Minimizes the size of pores, resulting in a smoother skin surface.
- Skin tone & texture: Enhances overall skin smoothness and uniformity.
- Rosacea & redness: Can help alleviate redness and improve the appearance of rosacea-affected skin.
- Sagging skin: Firms and tightens loose or sagging skin areas, such as the cheeks, jawline, and neck.
By targeting these specific issues, microneedling can significantly enhance the overall appearance and health of your skin.
How much does microneedling cost?
Cost may vary based on treatment type and treatment area(s).
- Microneedling: Starts at $300
- Microneedling with AmnioGlide: Starts at $495
- RF Microneedling: Starts at 795
How should I prepare for my microneedling appointment?
To prepare for microneedling, follow these guidelines:
- Avoid sun exposure, tanning beds, and chemical peels for at least one week before your session.
- Discontinue the use of retinoids, exfoliants, and other irritating skincare products for 3–5 days.
- Arrive with clean skin (don't apply makeup, lotion, or sunscreen).
- Avoid medications or supplements that can thin the blood and increase bruising (unless told otherwise by your doctor).
Following these steps helps support a smoother treatment and recovery process.
How should you care for your skin following microneedling treatment?
Apply a gentle, hydrating serum or moisturizer to soothe the skin and maintain moisture levels. Protect your skin from the sun by wearing a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30. Sun exposure can cause irritation and hyperpigmentation post-treatment.
Opt for mild, non-irritating cleansers and avoid products containing harsh chemicals, retinoids, or exfoliants for a few days after the procedure. Allow your skin to heal naturally without picking at any scabs or peeling skin, which can lead to scarring or infections.
Full post-recovery instructions will be given after treatment.
Is it okay to wear makeup after my microneedling treatment?
It's best to avoid wearing makeup for at least 24 to 48 hours after your microneedling session. During this time, your skin is healing and therefore more vulnerable to irritation and bacterial infections. Applying makeup too soon can clog pores, cause breakouts, or interfere with the healing process.
Once your provider gives the go-ahead, opt for clean, non-comedogenic products and use clean brushes or sponges. Letting your skin breathe immediately after treatment helps reduce the risk of complications and supports better results.
Can microneedling be done on areas other than the face?
Absolutely – microneedling isn't limited to the face. It can also treat areas like:
- Neck
- Chest
- Hands
- Abdomen
- Thighs
- Back
Microneedling is a versatile option for addressing concerns such as stretch marks, scarring, and crepey skin.
Keep in mind that body microneedling might require different needle depths or device settings tailored for thicker or more delicate skin. Depending on the treatment area and condition, your provider may also recommend multiple sessions.
Be sure to let your provider know which areas you're interested in during your consultation. They will assess suitability and create a customized plan.
Is microneedling with AmnioGlide safe for sensitive skin?
Microneedling with AmnioGlide placental serum is generally safe for sensitive skin, but individual responses can vary. AmnioGlide contains nourishing growth factors and anti-inflammatory proteins that support healing and reduce redness, which can benefit sensitive skin types.
That said, if you have active eczema, rosacea, or a history of allergic reactions to biologic products, you should discuss these concerns with your provider before treatment. They might perform a patch test to check for sensitivity.
Are there any health conditions that would make me ineligible for microneedling?
Certain health conditions may make you ineligible for microneedling or require special precautions. Potential contraindications include:
- Active skin infections
- Open wounds
- Severe rosacea, eczema, or psoriasis in the treatment area
- Bleeding disorders
Individuals with a history of keloid scarring or those currently undergoing chemotherapy or radiation might not be good candidates. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you'll likely want to postpone microneedling as well.
Always provide a complete medical history during your consultation. This helps your provider assess whether microneedling is appropriate and safe.
